Tips to Organize Your Home Craft Room

With good craft storage you can organize a craft room so that your supplies are safe and accessible.

Tips to organize your home craft room include using both everyday organizing products and specialty craft organizers that suit your specific needs.

Let's face it, if you are the creative type you might just have to get creative about craft storage.

  • use a paper towel holder for storing ribbon spools

  • a table top lazy susan turntable is a great addition to your craft room and will keep the supplies you use often right at hand.

  • Is it possible to have good storage solutions without using plastic storage drawers?

  • storage baskets - will hold just about anything you want. Small ones are great for pens and pencils or scissors and larger ones will hold glue bottles and paint.

  • plastic storage boxes for your pens, pencils, and craft knives or rotary cutters. The smaller square boxes make good open storage for the blades for your paper cutters.

  • plastic storage containers can hold all kinds of craft supplies like rubber stamps, yarn, fabric, and polyester stuffing. Clear storage containers allow you to see what is in there, opaque ones will prevent the contents from being damaged by light but be sure to label it.

  • specialty craft organizers for little "iddy biddy" parts that come with so many crafting hobbies.

  • Use a key rack like this one for hanging up rulers, scissors, and rotary cutters. Use bright ribbon to create hanging loops for the cutting implements and place the plastic rulers (lengthwise) on the top shelf.

  • create a craft armoire for use in a home that doesn't have a dedicated space for creativity.

  • use a plastic pegboard storage system - it makes good use of vertical space on the wall and all your tools and supplies are easily accessible.

hooks for organizing the craft room supplies

Organize your craft room by creating vertical hanging space using hooks. Simply decorate a plain piece of wood (hey you are crafty - just paint or stain it!) and screw in hooks to create vertical hanging space.

Mount the piece of wood on the wall and then on the hooks you can hang rulers, rotary cutters, scissors, even measuring tapes and they will always be ready when you are.

This one is mounted vertically and is very narrow because that is the only space there was in this craft room. You could make it larger and mount it horizontally as well. It all depends on how much space you have.
