The Grocery List and Organized Living
Personal Organization Skills for Grocery Shopping

A grocery list is a must for organized living.

New e-book shows you how to save thousands of dollars on groceries.

Organizing your life requires planning. If you have a system in your organized home for keeping track of needed items for the next shopping day you will always have what you need on hand and you can achieve better control of your spending and your shopping habits.

Tips for Getting Organized and Staying That Way

You can organize your grocery shopping just like any other aspect of organizing your life if you plan ahead. I mean how can you even go shopping if you don't know what you need or what you need it for?

This means that you must be able to anticipate what you will be needing for the upcoming week or two and that you have a system in place for generating an ongoing list of items that you will need in your kitchen to meet your needs for the coming week.

There is no activity that will waste your time and energy as quickly as constantly running out to get something you have run out of.

The best way to organize your list is to categorize it in the way that the items are categorized in the store:

grocery list
  • meat and deli
  • dairy, eggs
  • fresh fruits and vegetables
  • canned goods
  • frozen goods
  • bread and bakery items
  • household needs (cleaners, batteries, brooms, mops)
  • paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels)
  • personal hygiene products (soap, toothpaste etc)
  • baking products

And that is about all there is to keeping a grocery list.

The Easy Organizer has printable template for a grocery list.

Print the list and keep it in the kitchen.

You are most likely to be in the kitchen when you notice the supply of a needed item is running low, so that might be the best place to keep it.

Laminate the list or keep it in a plastic page protector and use a water soluble marker to check off what you need.

Just put the ongoing list somewhere accessible and write down things that you notice you are running low on throughout the week.

Everybody in the family can contribute if the list is readily available to them. There is only one simple rule for this system and that is if you notice anything is running low or if you use something up then put it on the list.

When it is time to go shopping you take a few minutes to plan the menus for the next week and note anything you might need for those meals and add them to the list.

Now That Makes Sense!
