How I Learned About Internet Marketing for My Online Businesses

Early in 2008 I was really trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. (I am told that this is part of the aging process when one starts realizing their own mortality)

I did the usual list of "what I want to be when I grow up". Quite frankly as a child the list was quite short. I cannot remember ever wanting to be anything but a nurse so doing something else was outside of my reality.

But there I was facing the stark reality that I was becoming "nursing career weary" something I thought would never happen, but when I looked in the mirror there it was. I was finally ready to leave the nursing profession behind. Good thing too because I was approaching the age for retirement!

My first self employment ideas skirted around the notion of becoming a professional organizer as I love to organize just about anything! I definitely knew I wanted to have "work from home" employment so I thought I could set up a home office as a personal professional organizer. Yeah that would be fun!

In fact I thought it would be so much fun that I did absolutely nothing about it except read everything I could get my hands on.

I discovered that I could write better than the authors of the books I was buying and that I already knew everything that was in there.

With that realization there was a series of serendipitous events .....

Serendipitous event #1

At about the same time as I had my eureka moment I reconnected with an old friend and she started telling me about her various legitimate internet businesses that helped her to buy two houses.

So there I am with these ideas about self employment now centering around building a website, marketing an online business, and writing about things that I am interested in.

I started exploring the internet. It seemed like a good place to start.

Honestly I don't know how but I found out about a company called Site Build It.

I was probably cruising around the world wide web just like you and landed on a page just like this one. I can't remember exactly how, but I liked what I read and signed up to learn how to build a website.

I mean really how hard could it be?

I thought I needed to know how to build a website and what I learned was how to do internet marketing. For online businesses to actually work you have to have customers. A lot of people have to be able to find your site and this is when I realized I had landed at the right place.

SBI actually told me to take my time. What? No get rich quick promises?

No matter where I turned in my Site Build It journey there were three consistent messages that came through loud and clear.

Serendipitous Event #3

While my self employment ideas for website marketing for my internet business were busy growing and taking shape we were also expecting our first grandchild. Both entered the world on the same day!

So my grandson and my first website have the same birthday! And today not only do I own more than one website but another grandchild has entered our lives!

So that is how my ideas for self employment were realized with Site Build It.

I don't see my self retiring from nursing. Rather I will be retiring to website marketing for a new internet business with SBI because I already have many more ideas taking shape in my head.

One thing is for sure I will never be bored in my retirement.
