Time It:
Set a specified amount of time for each toss/keep decision.
15 seconds is recommended. You will appraise each item based on the toss/keep criteria and within the first 15 seconds of that item appraisal you should be able to decide whether to toss it or keep it. If you have a friend helping you let them use a stop watch if necessary but keep to the time limit.
If you are using 15 seconds for each toss/keep decision that is 240 decisions in one hour--you can get through a lot of stuff in one hour!
Now that you have made all the toss/keep decisions and the room has been stripped you can start the planning process for placing the Keep pile back into your space.
