organization makes sense

Organized Living
or OL as we call it here at Organization-Makes-Sense

What is organized living? It doesn' have to be a mystery.

Getting organized simply means establishing a systematic and controlled way of living.

How to get organized does not have to be a mystery if you start first with understanding how to achieve consistent and predictable outcomes in life's everyday processes

Here is the OMS definition of OL - A systematic and controlled way of living that involves understanding how to achieve consistent and predictable outcomes in life's everyday processes.

Organized living can be achieved if you:

Getting organized was not a challenge for Betty but her children thought that a messy cultery drawer meant she was unorganized.

Read the story Betty Seeks Organized Living.

You will not achieve OL by:
  • being rigid and inflexible
  • placing more importance on getting organized than being human
  • valuing material goods above human relationships
  • living in the past or the future, rather than focusing on the present
  • denying emotional needs that control your behaviour
  • procrastinating and putting off decisions that must be made today
  • trying to control the behaviour of others

The purpose of getting organized is so that you have more control over your own life.

Now That Makes Sense!

home organization

This book really lives up to its title: The Definitive Guide To Home Organization For Busy People!

I cannot take credit for writing this book only for finding it.

But if I was to write a book on organized living this is what it would look like.

Author Greg Payette does a great job of presenting the concept of personal organization and space utilization in a down to earth, no nonsense way. He takes you through the steps to get every room in the house organized and working for you in the way you want it to.

Additional organized living tips for overcoming procrastination and clearing clutter are offered.

I agree with everything Greg has to say - well except for one thing - on p61 he suggests that putting drawers in your closet is not a good idea and I think it is! But he explains that further on p62 and does give you permission to use drawers if that works for you. Gosh! we even think the same way about storing t-shirts if you can believe that!

Like I mentioned if I was to write a book this would be it!

There are several free downloads with this book and it is good value for the money. If you want a well organized book to explain how to get organized this is it!
