  • storage ideas
  • organization tips
  • closet systems
  • tool organizers
  • garage shelving
  • personal organization skills
  • ....and maybe even storage baskets to get it all pulled together.

In fact the list of things you need for organizing your home and all the stuff in it could be a lengthy one. However, none of it will be of any use to you if it does not suit your needs. Even the task of organizing your home requires planning!

So don't get mixed up! Here is how you can organize your home room by room.

    How to Organize Your Home

Before you try to organize it, store it, or otherwise contain it, take the time to make a plan using the systematic process that you can remember by using the mnenomic S-P-A-C-E.

    Strip
    • Get everything out of the room.

    • Strip it right down to the bare bones.

    • This is great time to clean and get into all the nooks and crannies.

    • Also a great opportunity to paint!
    Purge

Go through everything that you took out of the room and decide if you toss or keep it. Here is a decision tree to help you with those decisions

    Assess

    Assess and analyze your needs

Q- How to organize your home?

A - Understand your own space limitations. You cannot have everything in the finite space that you have!

You might want a 60" television but will it actually fit in you home?

Of all the organization tips to be offered, the best one is to ask the right questions!

    • How many lineal meters (feet) of storage do you have?

    • What are the dimensions of the objects that you intend to store or place in the room?

    • What are your absolute priorities? There is no sense creating a new space design if your needs are not met.

    • What are you planning to put in the room?

    • What activities will take place in this room?

    • What items need to be stored here so they can be used and enjoyed in this space?

    • What kind of storage will best meet your needs?

    Containerize

Based on your assessment you should now have some storage ideas for the room and what kind of storage or containers you need for the room.

Now is the time to go out shopping with a list!

    Evaluate

    Enjoy and then evaluate.

You will find out over time if your new space is working to create more of the life you want.
