T-shirt Folding on Laundry Day or Any Other Day

T-shirt folding has been a fact of life on laundry day ever since the t-shirt made the transition from underwear to outer wear. Who doesn't love t-shirts?

They are comfortable, easy to launder, and come in a wide variety of colors. You can dress them up or down. Let's face it.....a t-shirt is a wardrobe staple.

There are simply so many benefits to t-shirts, you are not likely to eliminate them from your wardrobe.

But this wonderful, comfy, wardrobe staple can be difficult to keep orderly. Even if you spend a lot of time neatly folding them, by the time someone goes through the pile to get the one they want they want, t-shirt pile is a mess.

T-shirts are comfy to wear but hard to control! and without control organized living cannot be your reality. So how to get organized when it comes to t-shirt folding and storage on laundry day or any other day?

Let's consult with the O-M-S expert for organizing tips on how to control those much loved garments.

t-shirt folding Organization-Makes-Sense: - "Dianne, have you got any organizing tips that can help with keeping t-shirts organized. Everybody seems to have so many and they can create such a mess."

Dianne "Yes, but of all the organizing tips the best one is to simply get rid of some! Most people have far too many t-shirts!"

Organization-Makes-Sense: "Well how many should you have then?"

Dianne "It really depends on how often you do your laundry and how many t-shirts you wear in a day. But for the most part I would say that if you do your laundry once per week and you wear one t-shirt everyday then you should have no more than 10 t-shirts. But of course not everybody wears a t-shirt everyday!"

Organization-Makes-Sense: "OK so if I go through my closet and get rid of the t-shirts that I never wear, or are tattered and stained and I only keep enough to last me for the week how should I be storing them in my closet?"

t-shirt folding Dianne: "Definitely do NOT hang t-shirts on hangers. You will just get "shoulder nipples". They should be folded and placed either in a drawer or on a shelf."

Organization-Makes-Sense: "But kids make such a mess when they go into their drawers and get their favourite shirt which is always on the bottom! Nothing stays very neat for very long."

Dianne: "I have a great solution for that. I have a t-shirt folding technique that I call the pocket fold and it keeps the t-shirt in a neat little package. The kids can rummage through their drawers all they want and the shirt will always stay folded. You can even adapt this folding technique for other garments and it is great for packing."

Here it is...........the "pocket fold"

Another great t-shirt folding method that you might want to master. I cannot imagine why someone would want to fold t-shirts on the floor (ouch my back!) but nevertheless the technique is great!

Personal Stories

Read the story of my friend Betty who thought a messy cutlery drawer meant she was unorganized.

Response from Betty:
"Dear Bev,
I saw the article about me "Betty Seeks Organized Living" and I laughed all the way to my messy cutlery drawer! I would love to have you over for lunch and I promise it will only take me a few seconds to find the knives and forks!

Love,
Betty"
