Towel Folding Techniques for Laundry Day

Towel folding is an unavoidable chore on laundry day.

There are ways to fold towels that promote more control and result in a pleasing orderly appearance when the towels are stored.

Generally towels should always be folded lengthwise first. You can see this in both videos.

If you need a place to hang the towels to dry around the pool check out the pool towel rack.

Folding lengthwise means the towels come out of the cupboard ready to hang on the towel bar.

You can make the lengthwise fold in half or in thirds depending on the width of the towel and the width of the towel bar they have to fit on.

If you make the first fold crosswise then you will have to re-fold it to get it on the bathroom towel bar.

If you have room on the counter in your bathroom, stack the folded towels there ready for use. Or you can even roll them and place them in a storage basket so they remain tidy and within reach.

In this first video our housekeeping expert Dianne, provides a useful technique to keep the towels contained around the pool or hot tub area.

This next video shows how to fold towels so they look fluffy and luxurious just like in a hotel. You will note that a hotel usually has the towels folded and stacked, rather than hanging on a bar. You can get the same look with a hotel style towel rack in your bathroom.

If you hang your towels on a bathroom towel bar then use the technique that folds the towel in thirds lengthwise. This is the most convenient because you can take it right from the linen closet to the towel bar. If you do not fold it in thirds then you will not be able to fit two towels side by side on regular bathroom towels bars, especially those mounted on the back of a door. And any time you can do your towel folding only once well...

That makes sense!
